Minister of state for petroleum and natural gas and corporate affairs RPN Singh recently flagged off a 15-member motorbike expedition to Ladakh from New Delhi. The expedition was organized by Path Finders, a registered non-profit organization with 23 years of high-altitude biking heritage.
As a part of its motto, ‘Adventure for Social Outreach’, the Path Finders will also donate laptops, stationery and sports kits to six schools in remote areas bordering China, including Chushul – the battleground of the 1962 Chinese war that saw Indian Army’s Major Shaitan Singh earn the first Param Vir Chakra, the highest military honour in the country.
The minister handed over the laptop and stationery kit to the team members before flagging off the expedition. The expedition will also ride across Marsimik La, at 18,634 feet, the highest motorable pass in the world, some 200 km from Leh. Indian Oil, ONGC, GAIL and EIL are supporting the outreach programme.
