A perfect evening for the dog lovers
Dog lovers and canine behaviourists Ragani Parmar and Shivani Mathur always wondered about the fun things they could do with their dogs.
This is when they came up with the idea of organizing a party for dogs and their owners, where they would play games and just chill together. This initiative, which was started in Mumbai, came to Delhi for the first time this weekend.
1x1 polls
The owners were told categorically that they couldn’t bring their servants along, so that the owners and their dogs get a chance to bond. Shivani told us, “We were pleasantly surprised to see Delhi owners cleaning up after their dogs, and picking up dog poop. They’ve become more conscious and knowledgeable. It’s great!”
In one of the games, the dogs had to lick their owners, and the ones who’d do so for the longest would win. While most dogs looked completely disinterested in their owners, and refused to lick them after repeated requests, Mustard looked like he was just waiting for a chance to do so. And while some members of the audience were amazed at Rahul’s patience with being licked all over the face, he looked like he didn’t mind it at all.
If you’re wondering why Tangy looks traumatized in this picture, that’s because she’d just had a sock pulled off her tiny head! For a game, the owners had to put a sock on one of their dog’s paws and run a certain distance. But the rules were relaxed for the small dogs, and the owners were told to put the socks on any body part of their dogs. While some put it on their dog’s tail or tied it around their necks, Riti couldn’t think of anything else, so she put the sock on Tangy’s head!
The Ten Commandments:
At the end of the evening, the owners raised their hands and pledged to:
Love my dog
Feed my dog
Exercise my dog
Groom my dog
Play with my dog
Train my dog
Clean up after my dog
Never hit my dog
Ensure my dog’s medical needs are met
Make time for my dog
