A game of golf to spread road safety awareness in Delhi
Golf lovers from across the country came together to tee off the Road Safety Golf Cup, organised by Community Against Drunken Driving (CADD) at the Qutab Golf Course on Friday. Former cricketers Dr Syed Kirmani and Manoj Prabhakar also participated in the game and showed their support for the mission. Former cricketer Atul Wassan also joined them in signing the pledge to support the cause of road safety and wrote, “Left is always right,” on the signing board.
Prince Singhal, organiser of the event and founder of CADD, said, “People need to practice road safety every day, every hour. The idea was to bring stakeholders from different walks of life to join and promote the cause.”
It is a very just cause. In the times when a cab is so readily available, I see no reason why anyone would think about being behind the wheel while being drunk
– Atul Wassan, commentator and former cricketer
I urge everyone to concentrate fully on the road while driving. Drinking and driving don’t get along; it’s high time we understand it
– Manoj Prabhakar, former cricketer
Golf is my favourite game after cricket, so I am glad I was here to help raise awareness about road safety through my participation in the game. It is a good initiative
– Dr Syed Kirmani, former cricketer
“It is always a pleasure reuniting with my cricket buddies. I met Manoj (Prabhakar) after forty years today,” said Dr Syed Kirmani, post his game of golf.
