Delhi Times India Showcase Week 2018: A festive finale

The second day of DANJ Delhi Times India Showcase Week 2018, in association with DLF Promenade, redefined casual and chic with three designers and three brands putting out their latest lines on the ramp.

The opening show by designer Sakshi Bindra was all about beach weddings, with bespoke gowns and dresses in silver and metallic shades.A subtle hint of shimmer made a few designs perfect for weddings. “Since the collection was designed keeping beach weddings in mind, I used a lot of net, chiffon and georgette. The focus was on drapes and cuts and not embroidery,” said Sakshi, adding, “ I think #DelhiTimesIndiaShowcaseWeek is a great initiative. Doing a show in a mall helps a designer reach a large number of people, which is great.”

Florals rule
Popularly known as the queen of kitsch, Nida Mahmood presented her festive collection, Indian Flower Bazaar. Saris with floral prints draped over denims and straight-fit kurtas with broad pants were a part of the line. “India is a country full of colours and what better time than winters to highlight these lovely colours. We have presented Indian flowers in an interesting way. There were a lot of saris as I think the sari is the most glamorous outfit, and because I prefer wearing my sari with jeans, I presented that on the ramp,” said Nida. Apeksha Porwal, Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva 2017 - 2nd Runner-up, was the showstopper.


A glam launch after a grand show

The concluding event of the two-day fashion extravaganza was the unveiling of the DANJ calendar. It began with a performance by singer Sonali Ajay Bahuguna. Taking forward the show was a collection showcase by designer Neetu Singh. The show was divided into two segments – a range of cocktail gowns in black and white and the designs for Aerojet Aviation Pvt Ltd. The show ended with a grand unveiling of the DANJ calendar by showstopper Shraddha Shashidhar, Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva 2017 – Miss Universe India, Neetu Singh and Dinesh Aneja, Founder, DANJ Entertainment Inc. “We wanted to give a platform to talent from small towns and cities through this calendar, so there were a lot of models from small cities who were a part of this calendar shoot. For us, it was a great experience and it was a tough task to put up this grand show together and we are happy that the show was ultimately a success,” said Dinesh.

Keeping it casual
The show put together by Beverly Hills Polo Club, Call It Spring and KAINALLI began with a sports line for men with track suits in solid colours. A semi-formal look for men with pullovers, shirts and straight fit denims and bomber jackets in red also stood out at the show. The shoe line which had an interesting variety of sneakers and sports shoes was by Call It Spring. KAINALLI showcased a range of boots perfect for those who have
a penchant for classy designs.
