I love to sing, but I don’t know how...I feel incomplete without my guitar...
I’ve been swimming against the current for as long as I remember...

These are the ramblings of the members of the Youth Parliament (YP). The organisation recently celebrated its fifth birthday. Of course youngsters were a part of this do, but it was surprising to see an almost equal number of adults participating in the festivities.
It’s about serious work:
Director and founder of YP, Ishita Chaudhry was moved to tears while reflecting on her organisation’s achievements. She gave a presentation and lauded the efforts of all YP coordinators and members. She revealed future plans and was happy to announce that YP’s strength had increased over the years. When she announced that the coordinators would be paid salaries from now on, the crowd erupted into a loud applause. She was on her toes throughout the evening and made sure that she thanked everybody for being a part of the celebrations.
Of the force behind the young minds:
Tarini Barat was hosting the show and most of the things she said made the audience chuckle. The good thing about her was that she didn’t baulk away from laughing at herself. She called herself shady, somebody who talks lot, but all this just endeared her to the crowd that didn’t stop applauding for her.
She introduced Arshiya Sethi, who is the motivator and the mentor for these youngsters. Arshiya said, “I wish I was younger and could be a member of the YP. The kind of change today’s youth can bring about was not seen or heard about earlier. The trigger for me to kickstart the YP was the fact that a young girl committed suicide after her parents didn’t allow her to pursue western pop music.”
Of Artistes Unlimited:
AU celebrated its fourth birthday and their music added life to this celebration. Annette Philip of AU made the audience ask for more with each song the choir sang.
Tarini said, “AU engulfs you warmly, so much so that even a person like me who actually croaks, feels quite at home.”
