Curtains draw on French film fest in the city

Marking a grand culmination of cinematic celebration, the closing ceremony of the second edition of French Film Festival drew a gathering of filmmakers, actors and dignitaries at Nandan on March 1. At the ceremony, Nicolas Facino, director, Alliance Francaise Du Bengale and the 3FK, acknowledged how the festival fostered collaboration between the French and Indian film industries, and highlighted the work that has gone behind making the 3FK a success. “Long live Indo-French cinema,” said Nicolas, as curtains fell on the second edition of 3FK.

‘Kolkata can be a centre of filmmaking’
Having studied in Kolkata, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi director, Sudhir Mishra shares a deep connection with the city. “I’ve studied here, did theatre with Badal Sarkar,” said Mishra, who is currently working on three films in the city. He emphasised that Kolkata’s infrastructure makes it a prime candidate to be a filmmaking centre. “From directors, actors to technicians and a film school – the city has it all,” said Mishra.
