Director Mani Ratnam at the Naam calendar launch in Chennai

The Naam calendar, with its collage of images from the royal and opulent Ponniyin Selvan, would be a keepsake said many of the guests who lovingly cradled this prized possession at the launch function.

The presence of Mani Ratnam, who gave us part one of this visual and historical extravaganza and who released the calendar, too, turned this function into a happy meld of throwback and the future.

Actors Jayam Ravi, Jayaram, and Rahman, all of whom find themselves as part of this calendar, interacted with guests and shared their experiences of being part of this magnum opus.
