From their own kitchens to the high corridors of fine dining, the ladies who attended the luscious Cooking Fiesta workshop as part of the Times Chennai Festival 2011, took quite a global jump recently. They ditched their masalas and pulses for the sophistication of bruschettas and canapés. Chefs from the popular world cuisine restaurant On The Rocks conducted an informative workshop for the culinary queens, teaching them the nuances and equipping them with valuable tips.
The interactive class saw chef Nikhil Nagpal getting participants on stage to make starters like tomato and basil baguette, potato and sour cream, parmesan and mince chicken papodom. Chef Roy patiently answered the queries from the audience. “Well, you’ll just have to invite me over for dinner so I can check if you’re as good as you claim to be!” piped chef Nikhil in jest, much in keeping with the chow-wow of the event.
Sidelights• When a hotel management student Keshav finally went on stage (after being beaten to it by the ladies) and introduced himself as a final year student, the women gave him a whopping applause.
• To one lucky lady, Chef Nikhil Nagpal gave away a bottle of ultra spicy Zulu sauce, which was gifted to him by a guest.
