Blast from the past

There seems to be an inherent charm to the golden oldies. You could barely grow tired of listening to them.
And it’s that very unstoppable spirit of these memorable melodies that will be let loose on the music buffs of Chennai, come the weekend. The third edition of Rewind will witness some very talented musicians of Chennai belting out songs that you have grown up listening to (okay, some of us walked in late for the party, but we made it).
Giving us a lowdown on what the musically-inclined populace of the city can expect at the show, Gerard Joseph, a selftaught musician, singer and bassist with the band says, “We didn’t have a strategy to speak of, when it came to choosing our playlist.We know the songs of the artists we’ve played before — Harry Belafonte, Billy Joel, Nat King Cole and the likes. The tough part was that these musicians are not famous for one song — their entire repertoire is filled with hits and evergreen tracks that are legendary to this day.”
And will the band members play any Indian songs? Gerard pauses emphatically, before replying and says, “Well, we had considered singing a few Indian tracks. But, it’s not something we finalized on. Who knows, we just might spring a surprise on our audiences.”
