Chandigarh born actor Vivek Dahiya, who is a former business analyst, has taken up the cause of creating awareness about ambulance delays in India. After posting a video on social media of an ambulance trying to navigate its way through the Mumbai traffic, Vivek decided to champion the cause. “I did not randomly wake up one day and decide to shoot a video,” says Vivek, who is next pursuing web series as an actor, “I had been thinking about it for a while now after a recent travel abroad.

I witnessed an accident there and the ambulance arrived bang on time and cleared the mess in less than 10 minutes. Trust me, I am not exaggerating.”
Leveraging his status as an actor who has a fan following, Vivek says this followers’ population can be utilized as a good human pool to spread a message. “We actors have a decent following. People believe in us and like to follow what we believe in too,” says Vivek who is running his campaign as #Makewayforlife, “I am not being an optimist and expecting a change overnight. But in the least, if I can send across a message to the people who follow me, I am sure they can pass it on.”
The actor’s concerns over security and value of human life seems also to have stemmed from a recent attack on his shooting set by a group of drunk men. The men, yielding swords, vandalized the shooting sets and damaged the director’s car. At that time too Vivek had questioned the security measures employed by the shooting units. This time, in his crusade for ambulances to be given right of way, Vivek is pitching his battle against the daily commuters on the road who don’t give way to ambulances, rather than targeting the government. “I cannot fathom the mindset of these drivers who don't make way for an ambulance,” he lashes out, “In a population like ours, we've forgotten to value life.”
