Rishab Rikhiram Sharma's soulful Sitar resonates through Chandigarh
Playing to a huge gathering of people at New Chandigarh, sitarist Rishab Rikhiram Sharma’s immersive performance as part of his Sitar for Mental Health India Tour in city was a striking event.
The highlight of the evening was his rendition of ‘Kit Bidh Miley’, a shabad from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (Ang 168), composed in Raag Gauri Bairagan by Guru Ramdas. The hymn expressed a heartfelt yearning to unite with the True Guru, guiding listeners toward inner reflection and divine connection through grace.

Opening with his now signature style of guided breathing session, Sharma moved through ragas like Bihaag, Kedar and Tilak Kamod, blending classical depth with contemporary favourites and Bollywood melodies. The finale received a standing ovation from the audience.
His electric sitar, Sitara, Next-Generation electric Sitar conceptualised by his father Sanjay Sharma, added a modern visual edge. Accompanying his performance was the spectacle of lighting, fireworks and larger than life animation that kept audience rapt in the experience.

The grand finale featuring Chanakya, Kautilya, Venkateswara and Tandavam brought the audience to its feet in a thunderous standing ovation.
