On the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5, Panjab University celebrated with a Plant Adoption Drive. The drive was launched at Boys Hostel 3 with the residents and staff of the hostel by adopting plants at different blocks of the hostel. Prof Amit Chauhan, Dean Students Welfare, Panjab University launched the plant adoption drive.
The residents and staff of Boys Hostel No. 3, Panjab University, Chandigarh celebrated ‘World Environment Day’ by adopting plants at different blocks of the hostel. Prof. Amit Chauhan addressed the residents and staff with a message that we all must live sustainably in harmony with nature and shall contribute to the same by adopting the plants. Dr Sucha Singh, Warden, Boys Hostel No. 3 (S.S. Bhatnagar Hall) stressed on the protection of the environment and encouraged the residents and staff to adopt at least one plant during their stay in the hostel. Residents also pledged to nurture and take care of their adopted plants.
Among those who were present during the plant adoption drive included Wardens, Dr Harbhinder Singh, Dr. Indu Sharma, Dr. Jodh Singh, Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Dr. Varinder Kaur, Dr Nishima and horticulture (engineer), Mr. Amandeep.
He addressed the residents and staff with a message that we all must live sustainably in harmony with nature and should contribute towards this cause by adopting plants for increasing the green cover of the planet. Bhatnagar Hall) stressed on the need to protect the environment and encouraged the residents and staff to adopt at least one plant during their stay in the hostel.
