Pink turban campaign for rights and dignity of women

Wearing a pink headgear (pagri), also a color of nurturing and love, the girl students of Government Girls Model Sr. Sec. School, Sector 18, Chandigarh recently celebrated ‘International Girl Child Day’ with enthusiasm. While joining morning assembly, they flaunted the pink turbans they sported and discussed several topics/issues in detail. An initiative of Yuvsatta-an NGO, which is working to promote human rights or girls and women, along with Arunima Peace Club of the school, the drive mad maximum students taking part. School principal Raj Bala discussed how courageous girls, despite physical disability have managed to scale mountain peaks. Reeta Kohli shared that women across the globe have waited for centuries to get our due rights and status in the society. Addressing the students Pramod Sharma added that they have chosen turbans (pagri) for the participating girls as it’s a symbol of honour and respect in all the regions. He added that it’s time for girls and women to feel empowered from inside and take a stand to claim their due rights.
