Jassi bags Punjabi lead opposite Alfaaz

Singer, actor Alfaaz is re-starting his acting career with a Punjabi film, Vadda Kalakaar, set in the olden times. The

singer had previously done three Punjabi films. While
Vadda Kalakaar
will transport the audience to a bygone period when VCRs, cassettes were a rage, the project also has Chandigarh girl Jassi Kaur landing her first assignment as lead actor.
Jassi, who acquired popularity with her anchoring stints on Punjabi TV channels and stage shows, is excited at proving herself on big screen.

“More than a year ago I shifted to Mumbai,” says Jassi who made her acting debut in Jimmy Sheirgill’s Rangeelay few years ago, “There I did one TV serial and some commercials, besides anchoring corporate events. And finally the big day has come, and I am happy that my dreams are coming true.” Jassi, who was also seen recently in videos of songs by Kulbir Jhinjer and Ranjit Bawa, is essaying a role of an actress in the film. “I am playing a flashy star, who goes through frequent mood swings. She’s particular about everything, including makeup, dressing ways etc.”

The film, a retro drama, also has Rupi Gill, Yograj Singh, BN Sharma and Prince AJ in important roles. According to sources, the movie will take audience back to the time when bell bottoms defined fashion. The film’s director, Kuldeep Kaushik, describes the film belonging to the 80s and 90s, the time of transformation. This film will show old culture of the state through modern cinema. Adds Alfaaz, “Right now, I am very excited to be in this film. And I am just waiting to get into shooting after a gap,” he said.
