, singer, composer
Sukhwinder Singh is excited to be in the state on
Gurpurab. “Guru Nanak Devji’s birth anniversary celebration is a big day,” he says, adding, “I feel blessed to be in Punjab on this pious occasion. Being an emotional person, I feel strongly about being here and especially about landing the opportunity to perform at the sacred land of Sikh martyrdom in Sri Chamkaur Sahib.”
Sukhwinder, who has been frequenting Punjab since few years now says every time the excitement of being here is the same. “I intended to wake up at 5 am and go running. But I was so excited at being in Punjab that I woke up at 3 am,” he laughs, adding, “Performing at Sri Chamkaur Sahib amid its history of Sikh sacrifices, draws out profound emotions within me. And since it’s also Gurpurab, I feel it is like doing Sewa at the Gurudwara.”
Never one to feel weighed down by life’s problems, the singer says it is this trait of Punjabis that makes them appealing world over. “Punjabis are charming people and have great presentation and personality. That is why you see our music is popular everywhere. They are also simple in their music’s content, which is attractive. I am proud I belong to this race.”
Calling himself a “lighthearted person,” he says fun loving people make life and work easier. “I don’t do work seriously, I do it sincerely. If life brings problems, you should have the stamina not to be demoralized by them. And this can only happen if you are a happy person, only then can you make others happy too.”
