Actors from People's Media and Theatre, Jaipur, staged Hindi comedy play 'Champakali Ka Ramrupaiya' at the Tagore Theatre, Sector 18, Chandigarh on Sunday. The presentation was a part of the fifteen-day theatre festival from September 7 to 21 organised by the

North Zone Cultural Centre

(NZCC), Patiala, (Ministry of Culture, Government of India). The event is going to showcase the works of leading theatre directors and artistes in the genre of comedy and

sarcasm

.
The act is written and directed by Ashok Rahi, a well known name in the world of theatre. The situations created in the play are not entertaining but also give a message. The story is about Natwar who is in love with Champakali but faces resistance from her mother Ramkali. When he finally marries Champakali, an untoward incident happens wherein a stranger and his look alike comes at his house and dies, leading to problems and comic intervention that brings in a lot of pun.
