Environment protectors get awards

activities were organized on World Environment Day to improve general public’s understanding of various policies for saving the planet. The event organised by UT’s department of environment and NGO Yuvsatta also gave awards to three best eco-clubs each in Chandigarh schools and colleges. Held inside a mall in the Industrial Area, the event also saw an exhibition onbirds
, where 50 photographs were put on display. Later, students from 10 schools participated in inter-school skit contest which had ‘Pollution Free Green Chandigarh’ as its theme. Debendra Dalai, director of department of environment said that Chandigarh is the greenest city in India with 38% of the area under green cover.end of article
