Awareness workshop on single-use plastic

While speaker Reeta Kohli stressed that single use plastics be banned in the beautiful city of Chandigarh. TC Nautiyal shared that though we are aware of the ill effects of single use plastics but we are not being able to do enough to avoid their ill effects. He invited attention towards the use of single use plastics in PGI which helps in saving so many lives while on the other side in Daddumajra (the landfill site for Chandigarh) it plays havoc and threatens the environment. Pramod Sharma, urged the participating schools to do begin first with three things, ban single use poly bags in schools, motivate students to use fountain pen instead of disposable ball pens (as a single School with around 2000 students, add over 1 lakh ball pens to landfills) and schools should ask parents to pack students lunches in steel tiffin’s, instead of plastic ones.

Pollution’ on Monday. The teachers from over 60 government and private schools took part in the event, which also sawTC Nautiyal
