Art works of renowned artists on display at exhibition in city

An art gallery and its founder-curators Gurpreet and Munish Jauhar are holding an art exhibition of art in print, paper and canvas. On till a week at the Government Museum and Art Gallery Chandigarh, the exhibition titled ‘Art through Print and Paint’ is an exploration of how artists engage with materials and how textures, layers, and processes shape meaning. This exclusive art show is a creative confluence of works on prints, paper, and canvas, each medium conveying its own voice, rhythm, and story. Together, these mediums create an interesting combination, highlighting how the surface is never just a background but an active participant in the making of art.

“This exhibition highlights the beauty and depth of printmaking, and conversations arising out of it will help people understand its history and process,” say the
curators. Featuring 20 prints, each reflecting the richness of printmaking as an art form, including an exclusive portfolio of the Monsoon Lithography Workshop 2024 held at Vadodara, this collection invites visitors to enjoy not just the final artwork but also the detailed process behind it, making prints a valuable keepsake and a glimpse into the artist’s journey. Prints by some of India’s most renowned artists including M.F. Husain, S.H. Raza, Ram Kumar and Thota Vaikuntam, will be showcased.
“Not only do these artworks offer a special chance to experience the creative vision of legendary masters through the medium of print, it creates a platform for learning and appreciation. It fuels curiosity and opens up new ways of seeing and appreciating the role of art in our everyday lives,” add Gurpreet and Munish. Most of the prints have been collected over time from artists, workshops, and print studios across India.

Along with the prints, the show presents paper-based works by famous artists like Kapil Anant Sharma, Ganapati Hegde, Magesh R, Gurmeet Marwah,
and Samir Mohanty. These artists use mediums like watercolor, ink, acrylic and pencil to explore themes of everyday life, environment, and inner thought.
