Sabyasachi Mishra has taken the initiative to send
coconut offerings
dumped at different parts of the city to
Maa Tarini Temple
at
Ghatagaon
in
Keonjhar
district. These coconuts have been dumped there for last several months.
Devotees from various parts of the state send these coconuts to the temple on buses and trucks plying in their areas. In normal circumstances, these coconuts are sent to the temple after they are unloaded at bus stands in
Cuttack
and Bhubaneswar. “Since vehicular movements have been restricted for several months now, these coconuts have piled up at different places in and around the city and have started sprouting. As people’s devotion is attached to these coconuts and they were going waste, I decided to arrange a vehicle to transport them to their destination,” Sabyasachi told us, adding, “The piles of coconuts were also affecting the beauty of the city. I have sent them to the temple and the administration there will do the rest.”
After he sent the coconuts to the temple, many people praised his efforts.
