The Odia community in Pune took part in

Raja Parba

, the traditional Odia festival, which celebrates

menstruation

in a grand way. They did so by inviting several Odia celebrities to their event. A large number of

Odia people

, staying in Pune and nearby areas, gathered at the event ground to make it a memorable celebration.

Reputed names from Ollywood like Akash Dasnayak, Prakruti Mishra, singer

Aseema Panda

, musician

Abhijeet Majumdar

, comedian Braja Singh, jatra artiste Daitari Panda and many others attended the event to perform for the crowd. People enjoyed dance, music, laughter, fashion and food on the occasion. The actors and musicians were also felicitated by the Odia association.

“It was a grand event and I am happy to have attended an event that celebrates our traditional festival on such a large scale. Meeting fellow Odias at the event ground was a great feeling,” said Akash Dasnayak.

At the same time, various organisations came forward to host Raja Parba in the smart city here. While the tourism department organised the event at

Panthaniwas

with traditional cakes on sale and makeshift dolis or swings arranged for revellers, several organisations arranged the festival for common people.

Even several parks in the city had arranged special swings for kids so that they can enjoy the festival. Jayadev Vatika in Khandagiri had a lot of young visitors to enjoy playing on the swings.

Since the recent cyclone has destroyed many trees in the city, the authorities made arrangements with whatever was possible so that city kids could enjoy the festival. “Usually, youngsters come to this park and kids come for picnic. But on Raja days, many children accompany their parents to the parks,” said an employee of Jayadev Vatika.
