Renowned quadriplegic actor from the state,
Jitendra Kumar Biswal along with
Odia
film and television actor
Subhransu Nayak
and renowned Odia filmmaker
Subas Das
were among the guests who launched the festival that will be held in April first week.
“The festival this year focuses on documentary films based on disability issues. There will be two categories of films:one-minute and five-minutes. Like previous years, the festival is open for all,” said Ghasiram Panda, member of the festival team.
Biswal hailed the festival’s attempt to highlight the plights of people with disabilities. “The theme of the film festival is very apt. Last year, the whole world was affected by the pandemic and the most affected are the people with disabilities. This would be a good way to encourage filmmakers to look around them and highlight the issues surrounding disability. Besides, through their short documentaries, they can create awareness among a large section of people about disability issues,” said the actor with disability.
