Mahotsav

2020 was organised at the foothills of ancient

Dhauli

recently. The unique

festival

that showcases various art forms of Indian dance traditions has been organised since 2003.

This mahotsav has been able to create an identity for itself and its due prominence in the cultural map of India. A congregation of more than 500 artistes from across the country has made it a highly sought- after event for artistes as well as art connoisseurs.

On the first evening the festival offered pallavi- an offering through

Odissi

by two Odia troupes follwed by

Kathak

dance by a Mumbai based dance group. The final offering of the evening was a contemporary dance by a Mumbai based troupe. The second evening also saw an Odissi performance and Kalaripayuttu by a Bangalore based group. The third evening presented a mardalsbadana by a local group followed by Bharatnatyam by a Delhi based organisation and Mayurbhanja Chhau by a Mayurbhanj based group.

“The festival celebrates unity in diversity. The Dhauli peace pagoda as the backdrop inspires the artistes to cherish the idea of love, peace, compassion and humanity. Besides, it also helps in preserving, promoting and popularising the heritage in national and international level,” said an Odisha tourism official.
