Taari Laagi was staged on the fourth evening of the Srushti Comedy

Theatre

Festival, which was organised at

Rabindra Mandap

on Tuesday evening. And the audience got a chance to laugh their hearts out. Moreover, the fact that the show ran to a full house showed the growing popularity of theatre in the city. The second edition of the

comedy

theatre was a four-evening programme that featured four plays with

comic

and satirical themes presented by different theatre groups.

The organisers had adopted a unique way to attract audiences to the fest — by announcing a lucky draw and prizes. “It was a great occasion to bring audiences to the theatre and keep them glued to their seats. They enjoyed the plays and the winners got prizes at the end of the performances,” said Kailash Mohapatra, one of the organisers and the director of Taari Laagi.

Written by Bijay Mishra, Taari Laagi is a reflection of our society and how people in search of greater things in life forget their present. The cast included veteran theatre artistes Jimuta Patnaik, Dillip Mohapatra, Bhakti, Pinki, Kailash Mohapatra, Kailash Senapati, Dinabandhu and Rajib Lochan Mohapatra.

“It was a great occasion to watch the plays and at the same time, if you are lucky enough, win a gift! People who have come to watch the plays have enjoyed it to the core. For me, it was a double treat as I won a

in the lucky draw,” said Nabeen Parida, a spectator.
