Independent filmmaker Amartya Bhattacharyya said that while they were trying to resolve this issue with the digital platform, they got a response from the internet video on demand service that they currently offer content in nine local languages only and Odia is not one of them. “Despite Odia being one of the six classical languages in the country, such attitude towards a regional film that has good fan following across the country, is not acceptable. Besides, such discrimination towards the language is not acceptable,” said the filmmaker.
The film is available on the platform in other territories, while they have pulled it down in India. This was the only Odia film to be streaming on that popular platform. “Even when some film lovers tried to contact the online streaming platform, they got different responses, which are misleading. We want the platform to support independent films of other languages that have good fan base across the country and outside. Several people have raised the issue and want the film to be restored,” said Swastik Choudhury, a leading actor of the film.
