Actress
Anubha Sourrya
and her mother, veteran actress
Puspa Panda, are known for their love for animals. And on Sunday, they joined a protest march organised by few animal rights
activists
against killing of a pregnant
dog
in the city.
The dog, April, was beaten to death by a woman in
Samantarapur
area of the city a few days ago. Its premature puppies also died later. Members of an
animal welfare
group, which had rushed the dog to hospital, later lodged a police complaint.
Since then, the animal rights activists had started an online
campaign,
Justice for April
, demanding action against the perpetrator. “We held the protest rally at the spot where the dog was killed. It’s inhumane to kill a pregnant animal. We want the accused to be booked for the crime,” Anubha said, adding that the protesters had followed the
social distancing
norms while seeking justice for April.
