Actor-politician Akash Dasnayak rang in the

New Year

in a unique way. He and his wife, along with a few others, started an initiative to collect clothes for the poor. The concept, Thile Dia, Nathile Nia (If you have, give, if you don’t, take) was initiated by Akash’s father

Mayadhar Nayak

, a social worker and labour leader, as part of the winter movement to provide clothes to the needy and downtrodden people of society.

To take forward his father’s good work, the

actor

came up with this initiative, which will continue till January 31. One such clothes collection centre was inaugurated in

Bapuji Nagar

, where former BMC mayor and current MLA of Central Bhubaneswar

Anant Narayan Jena

, actress Elina Samantray and a few other eminent people were present along with Akash and his wife Subhrajyoti Dasnayak.

“People can donate old or even new clothes for this cause. We all know that a large number of people in our country are homeless. It’s difficult for them to buy clothes and in winter, their problems grow manifold. If we, the privileged ones, can donate our excess clothes or give new ones to someone who needs it, it will bring smile on that person’s face. My father had initiated this drive and I am trying to take it forward. I hope more people will join with us,” Akash told us.

He added that if one doesn’t have clothes, they can also take from the centre. “It’s open to all sections of society — both donors and receivers,” Akash signed off.
