To mark the occasion of Buddha Purnima, Tribal Museum is holding a special four day fest Yashodhara based on Jatak Kathas (fables) of India. On its opening day, play comprising of stories told by Buddha called Swarna Sanhar was staged in the open-air auditorium of the venue.
Predominantly a jatak katha, the play is based on the stories narrated by Buddha, which has a message or a lesson by the end of it.
Overall the play established that power and materialistic possessions are only temporary, what matters is gaining salvation. The story revolves around a Golden Peacock who is not a pure of heart. On a friends suggestion the haughty peacock prays to Sun God for Moksha.
Meanwhile, Queen of
Kashi is enticed by its appearance and wants the creature for herself and thus orders the King to fetch her the same. Despite several rewards and hunt it is not caught and eventually Brahmadatt becomes the king. The new king then releases the accursed peacock and in the process learns that salvation is the ultimate peace, thus abdicates his seat to find moksha.
