The members of Punjabi Society celebrated Lohri with much fanfare as they danced to the tunes of bhangra beats and circled the huge bonfire at the Old Campion ground. The celebration went on in full swing with various group dance performances.A splash of vibrant hues: Dressed in brightly-coloured outfits, the dance troupes entertained the audience, keeping the energy high among everyone.
Mamta Kapur, a teacher, said, “Every year, we come here to enjoy this festival of prosperity.
And the best part is that we get a chance to shake a leg to the rocking Punjabi music.” Raman, a college student, who had come all the way from Australia to celebrate this festival with his relatives, said, “The festival of Lohri always fascinates me. It’s like a night out with your friends and family – coupled with good food and music.” Gurdeep Singh, a businessman, remarked, “It’s celebration time, and I’ve already shopped for this festival with my family.” We also spotted many politicos at the do including Vishwas Sarang, former mayor Sunil Sood and chairman of Punjabi Society Jasbir Singh, among many others.
