Play Bagiya Bancharam Ki shows how karma comes full circle

, written by Manoj Mitra was showcased to the delight of the Bhopali theatre loving audience. The director

, made sure to bring forth an intense description of the exploitation farmers and commoners face at the hands of zamindars.

The play, goes on to narrate the story of an old man Bancharam who despite being old and frail toils day and night to maintain his precious bagiya, as that is the place from where he earns. The protagonist is then haunted by the spirit of a rich zamindar who commands him to transfer the ownership of his land to his son. It is actually a ploy of zamindar’s son who wants the land, and when Bancharam doesn’t give in to his tactics, he tries to trick him into a plan.

He convinces Bancharam to partially transfer the farm to him on a monthly remuneration of Rs2,000. He is confident the frail old man will soon die and the land will be his. The frail old Bancharam, however, makes good use of the money and in no time becomes healthy. When the zamindar's son visits Bancharam he is shocked out of his wits to see a robust man. He then plans to poison him but to no avail. After many more futile efforts, the son himself falls ill and dies.

The audience were mighty impressed by the presentation that was peppered with popular numbers like jai Jai kar from Baahubali.
