An amalgamation of three short stories as one ‘Mujhe Mukti Do’ was staged at Shaheed Bhawan by the Dost Natya Santhan. The three stories were connected to each other and were staged after other. The play started by Dhup Ka Tukda, followed by Sanwali Ladki and then concluded by Mujhe Mukti Do.
The stories portrayed the life of women in the patriarchal society, and even today they are tied by invisible shackles.
The opening act Dhup Ka Tukda is about a Christian woman who lost her husband. She is not able to lead a normal life as the memories of her husband haunt her and doesn’t let her stay at peace. One day she has a heart to heart talk with a stranger whom she meets in the church. The second story Sanwali Ladki is about a girl Rajjo who has a dark complexion. Despite being educated, she is rejected by many men as she is not fair. One day she rejects a boy and leaves her home. The concluding act of Mujhe Mukti Do tells about the relationship of between a writer husband and wife. The wife knows that her husband is involved in an extra marital affair. She asks her husband openly that how will he feel is she does the same?
