Under the Uttaradhikar series of Madhya Pradesh Tribal Museum this week Dhrupad Gayan and Kathakali dance was performed by renowned artists of the country. The winter evening started off with heart soothing Dhrupad singing by Sypriyo Maitro and his group. They started with Raga Bhupali. They sang Shiva stuti- Shiva Shiv Shiv, Shankar Mahadev. After this the Kathakali troupe started their performance with the tale of Prahlad. Prahlad was a devotee of Lord Vishnu which his father Hiranyakashyap didn’t like. He tells Prahlad that he is the supreme power but he just smiles and say that his devotion will never fade away. They way Lord Vishnu defeats Hiranyakashyap was beautifully shown by the expressions and moves.
