Bhopalites gear up for preparations as festivities knock the door

As Ganesh Chaturthi is approaching, we see festivities all around. With pandals under construction, markets prepping for decoratives, and sweet shops preparing extra delicacies. We came across this Ganesha making workshop and the excitement levels of the kids and interested participants enthralled us.

Narmada Samagra

has organised a twelve-day idol making workshop. The training is being given by a professional in-house trainer and the materials used are purely eco-friendly. From kids to ladies all indulged in making their own idols. Many plan to take these idols home and decorate them further for the festival. It usually takes two to three hours to make one idol.

“We organise such workshops every year. Our motive is to promote eco-friendly Ganeshas as these don’t pollute rivers and other water bodies. I train all the participants. We prepare the material three-four days in advance so that it is ready for the participants to use and start making their own idols” as shared by Naveen Bhodhke, the trainer.

The participants were seen enjoying the process and are enthusiastically trying their hands on something creative for the festive season, “This activity is so refreshing. I came here after finishing my college and I am so engrossed in the procedure. I love learning new things, this one is definitely enjoyable. It is like clay modeling and I believe one should indulge in such offbeat activities more often.” – Neha Jangid
