If you've felt that the humble khadi can't compete in the same space as glitz, here was an event that debunked that myth. Over the weekend, Town Hall came alive with music, glamour and, more importantly, Khadi couture. With over 1,000 people attendance, the event titled Namma Nadige Khadi Yedege saw some of the most prominent personalities of Kudla walking the ramp.
From top businessmen, lawyers, doctors and city models, the evening saw them all togged in khadi outfits of various hues and silhouettes. the event -- which was hosted by Suhas Rao and Umesh Raj whose aim is to popularize khadi in Kudla -- kicked off with a show of ensembles designed by the students of a city fashion institute. The highlight, though, was the presence of the young guns of the Tulu film industry -- Anup, the hero of Nirel, the dapper Arjun Kapikad, Karthik Banjan and Jaya Shetty.
Psst! Anup, the hero of the recent film Nirel that saw Kannada actor Ramesh Aravind playing a cameo, flew down from Dubai especially for the show. And we hear the girls were all vying to get a closer look at Arjun Kapikad.
