Times KAFTA awards night in Bengaluru

It is not often film stars and technicians come together off film sets, but Monday evening changed that. When the red carpet was rolled out at the Le Meridien, Bengaluru, for the first-ever Times

Film Technical Awards (KAFTA) 2015, the who's who of Sandalwood made a beeline for it. There was glitz and glamour galore coupled with excitement as the nominees walked in for the event sponsored by Kichcha Creations and DS Max, in association with Hombale Films, and put together by Pritie Jain of Bling Mushrooms .
Century Star Shivarajkumar was among the early birds at the event. “It is great that technicians are being recognized for their work. I am a technician's actor and like to be trained -starting with the director, cameraman, music directors to dance and stunt choreographers,“ he said.

Sudeep, who could not make it to the show, due to prior commitments, sent a video message congratulating all the winners and hoped that the show would grow.

Karthik Gowda, of Hombale Films, said, “When the Times of India team mooted the idea of establishing an awards func tion for technicians, it just seemed right that we associate ourselves with it.“

Dayanand, director, DS MAX, added, “To my knowledge, there is no other award function for technicians and it gives us immense joy to associate with

Suresh Badlaney , General Manager, Le Meridien, was happy at being able to associate with “an extremely well-organized event.“ He added, “It is a privilege to associate with the Times Group and we're happy that a lot of known and new faces were at our hotel for the event.“

Once the guests collected their tickets to the show and were seated, emcee Asif Beig took over. Addressing the gathering in chaste Kannada, he ensured that there was not a dull moment throughout the proceedings.

The winners were chosen based on the votes from a jury comprising Ramesh Aravind, Srinath, SD Aravinda and Shwetha Srivatsav, as well as those polled on http:www.itimes.com. The celebrations went on into the night, as the guests had a gala time at the afterparty at Sugar Factory.
