Celebrating a new beginning
Suriname has a consulate in Bangalore now
The embassy of Suriname recently opened a consulate in Bangalore, and a gala event was held to mark the occasion. Asif Iqbal has been appointed as honorary consul of the venue, which has been opened to provide assistance to Suriname nationals, Indians travelling to Suriname to visit families, and cultural groups visiting the South American country.
Suriname’s ambassador in India, Aashna Wandana Kanhai, said, “The warm hearts of Suriname’s multi-ethnic citizens are open to the world and the special trade between India and Suriname, initially vested by the Indian diaspora to Suriname, has developed and grown to be a mature structure of cultural, economic and political co-operation.”
We spotted Fatima, Chandrashekhar and Venkatesh among the guests at this do.
