London-based author Jaishree Mishras book reading event at a bookstore on Wednesday evening saw an interesting milieu of people. Jaishrees biggest fan, an MBA student from Pune, sent a collage for her through her parents, something that Jaishree was completely touched by. Anitha Nair spoke to the author, as did author Vikram Sampath who posed queries about the fate of historical fiction in a country like India where people get offended too easily.
There was a lot of grey matter-stimulating discussion on popular literature and whether a writer should just play to the gallery to sell copies. We spotted Vinita Bartlett, who came in late, and Radhika Misra, who was intently listening to the author speak. Shes her aunt after all!
