Exciting & competitive: Songwriter Diya on Bengaluru’s indie scene

Musician and college student Diya Yadalam, who is set to release her debut single, says Bengaluru’s indie music scene is on the rise. “Platforms are more accessible, more people are entering the space, and that makes it exciting—but also competitive. You need to stand out and bring something original.” The singer, who started with covers on YouTube, says trying out different styles and seeing what fits, worked for her. “Over the years, I’ve gone through phases with different artists, and my influences keep evolving. However, each influence has shaped my style in some way. Music grows with you, and that’s the fun part,” she says.
