Comic Con turns Bengaluru into a pop-culture playground

Bengaluru slipped into full pop-culture mode as Comic Con returned to Bengaluru over the weekend. Held in Whitefield, the two-day event unfolded as a high-octane celebration of com ics, cosplay, gaming and fandoms of every stripe. For many attendees, Comic Con was as much about community as it was about pop culture. “It’s like a giant party where everyone’s dressed up really cool. It’s a nice break from mundane life,” said Deepta, a college student studying animation who has been cosplaying for two years. “I’ve always been fascinat ed by how much effort goes into making a picture move.” Anime fans echoed the sentiment. Data engi neer Hussein, attending Comic Con for the third time, said the event offers something missing from everyday work life. “I find a like-minded crowd here, and Comic Con is something I look forward to every year,” he said. Families, too, added to the colourful crowd.
