City-based artist Vidya Kumersan to organise an online, faux calligraphy workshop

Bengaluru group

MyCopie

is organising a

Faux Calligraphy workshop

in association with

artist Vidya Kumersan

, who is an independent artist from

Namakkal

and also the founder of The Wishing Ink. This workshop will be focusing on hand lettering, the letter art calligraphy, water colouring and graphic designing as well. Calligraphy, which is a kind of letter art, contrasts thin and thick strokes within letters and words and is particularly popular with hand letterers. The faux calligraphy technique is the use of simple fine liners – which are pens, pencils and sharp ink instruments - to imitate the effect of calligraphy on paper at a much easier, grass-root level.

The session will be divided into five parts – Introduction to Faux Calligraphy, how to get the alphabet structure right, Forming lower case alphabets with calligraphy, forming upper case alphabets with calligraphy and so on.
The materials required for this upcoming workshop will include any pen (pigment liners/ballpoint pens/gel pens), 5/6 sheets of A4 size or a notebook and a pencil, scale and eraser. This workshop will be conducted live over Zoom. The link to the workshop will be sent a day earlier to participants who have registered online, via the links given on the social media handles of the organisers. The upcoming event will be held on May 22 at 5.30 pm.
