Chandrayaan 3 on the mind, and in space

On Friday, India’s space agency ISRO launched Chandrayaan 3 from Sriharikota. 16 minutes later, it was announced that the LMV3 rocket which was carrying the lander had entered the Earth’s orbit.
It is expected to land on the moon on August 23, and if the mission succeeds, then it will make India the fourth country to have a controlled lunar landing, after the United States, the former Soviet Union and China. Here’s what the entire country had to say about it:




Making India Proud
  • Chandrayaan 3 was launched on July 14, 2.35pm. Expected to land on the moon on August 23 or 24
  • It will be the world’s first mission to attempt a soft-land near the lunar south pole
  • While Chandrayaan 2 was being tracked from Spain, this one is being tracked from Bengaluru
  • Over 1.8 million people watched the launch of Chandrayaan 3 online, while thousands saw it in real life from Sriharikota
