Bengaluru’s pride march for change and diversity
Bengaluru came alive with colour and energy as the LGBTQIA+ community celebrated Pride Month with a Pride March spanning from Kanteerava Stadium to Town Hall on Sunday. It featured over 350 participants.
Sauvik, a participant at the event, noted that police security and protection for the march were well planned, with the officials showing strong support for both the event and the cause.
A GROWING COMMUNITY
Adam Pasha, a drag queen and Ambassador to South India on behalf of HRH Manvendra Singh Gohil of Rajpila, associated with Bengaluru Pride since its inception, highlighted the growing number of allies who understand what the community stands for — love and acceptance.
● Ban conversion therapy and forced surgeries on intersex children
● Legally recognise non-binary and transgender identities
● Ensure protection from sexual violence and forced marriages
● Implement job and housing reservations
● The community also voiced their need for inclusive education, legal reforms, and welfare support for transgender persons and sex workers
