The city hosted Tulunadu’s historic buffalo sport Kambala over the weekend.

The two-day mega affair at Palace Grounds, witnessed a mammoth crowd of over five lakhs. The Kambala arena saw over 160 pairs of buffaloes compete in the race. Puppets representing Tulunadu culture and a museum showcasing the region’s lifestyle, coastal food and performances were also part of the event. Musical performances by Arjun Janya, Shamita Malnad, Indu Nagaraj and Gurukiran as well as the traditional Huli Vesha (tiger dance) were also part of the event.
