Bengaluru celebrates verdict on Section 377

The city was painted in rainbow hues after the Supreme Court delivered its verdict on Section 377 that decriminalises consensual gay sex. Several members from the LGBTQIA+ community gathered at Town Hall, Bengaluru to celebrate the historic judgment. Members of the community were seen embracing each other after the judgment. A five-judge constitution bench of the Supreme Court on Thursday, unanimously decriminalised part of the 158-year-old colonial law under Section 377 of the IPC which criminalises consensual unnatural sex, saying it violated the rights to equality.
