Bengaluru breathed a much-needed sigh of relief on Thursday, as the city received its first showers after a five-month wait. Following a record dry April, the showers were enjoyed by all. Between 6.30 pm and 8 pm, light rainfall blessed parts of the city with HAL Airport recording 2.5mm of rain and Vidyapeeta in the South Zone receiving a significant 20mm of rain. Social media was abuzz with Bengalureans expressing their joy; sharing videos of the rain. The meme world took to creativity to share their elation. And celebs in Bengaluru joined in as well, sharing stories on social media, relishing the sudden bout of rain.
More downpour expected over the week, says IMD On Thursday, the city’s maximum temperature hit 38 degrees. On Friday, following the rains, the maximum temperature fell to 36 degrees. Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted more rains this week. Cloudy skies accompanied by one or two spells of rain or thundershowers are expected. Temperatures, however, are expected to remain consistent between 23 and 38 degrees Celsius.
