Bangalore's glitterati at derby

Equestrian enthusiasts in the city were revved up with excitement about the recently held derby, so much so that they showed up in their raciest outfits, so to speak, even though it drizzled through the day.
The venue was packed to the brim, and there was little space for people to move around to place their bets or get a drink. As the races kicked off, everyone took their turn to bet and the atmosphere got heavy with anticipation and excitement as people cheered on their favourite colts.
At the end of each race, the air was filled with shouts of joy from backers as they high-fived when it turned out that their picks crossed the finish line first. Though a few stuck to the derby dress code, with some of the men turning up in suits, most seemed to take the easy way out and wore denims, which they teamed with jackets.
However, full marks went to the ladies, who wore summery dresses and even hats in some cases. There were more celebrations as the cake specially created for the silver jubilee was cut.
In between the races, singer Avril Quadros entertained the crowd with her soulful voice. We spotted at the event Arjun Sajnani, Ramesh Dembla, Tamanna Pasha with her husband Rafi, Shaheen and Jimmy Amrolia, and Anitha Kholay, among others, enjoying themselves at the event.
