India Foundation for the

Arts

(

IFA

) is back with the latest edition of its ‘

Throwback Thursdays

’ series. ‘Art in the Neighbourhood: Exploring

Richards Town

’ will be presented by

Anaheeta Pinto

on October 22, between 6 pm and 7 pm on Zoom.
Anaheeta’s project will elaborate on the artistic explorations in the Richards Town neighbourhood. She will be joined by artist Aditya Fernandes and members of the Richards Town Residents Association – Monisha Suresh and Anna Alexander. The speakers will share their experiences of bringing together children of the pourakarmikas and children of the residents in the locality, through an artistic intervention that explored their neighbourhood. The session will be moderated by Menaka Rodriguez, Head of Resource Mobilisation and Outreach, IFA.
The presenter had received a grant from IFA for a Neighbourhood Engagement project, under its Project 560 programme. During the course of the project, Anaheeta organised walks led by artist Aditya and a local design firm where the children made sketches of the environs surrounding Richards Park and explored their connections to the neighbourhood. These sketches by the children later made it to a dilapidated railway wall in the locality, bringing it alive through their creativity and imagination.
Amid all the physical distancing norms and stringent protocols to ensure public safety and hygiene, members of IFA are discovering new ways of engaging with technology and online platforms to share the work of their grantees. Over the past few weeks, they treated viewers and art lovers to a virtual series of conversations, film screenings and performances.
