A Japanese-Indian crossover, with a sensory escape

Bengaluru has a new corner inviting visitors to slow down namely TEM — the Toyota Experience Museum — inspired by the Indian practice of Sadhana, brings together elements of Japanese precision, silence, and nature-connectedness. The experience unfolds across zones representing the four seasons, gradually moving into spaces devoted to stillness, motion and sensory awakening.

‘Each zone is a different feeling’
“The walkthrough begins in a mirrored, high-tech room where infinite projections depict India and Japan’s shared seasons, elevated with scents crafted for each transition,” say creators Amodh S Guttal and Roja J, as they break down the multi-sensory design. The journey then shifts into an installation inspired by Japanese drumming The final stretch offers a space to “exhale”: a dark, serene room anchored by a gentle water curtain. “It’s where the mind resets and readies itself for the world outside,” Amodh explains.
