Baguiati Rail Pukur United Club ushers in 72nd Durga Puja with Shabdo theme

The Baguiati Rail Pukur United Club marked the beginning of its 72nd Durga Puja celebrations today with the unveiling of its theme, “Shabdo” (The Sound). The pandal was virtually inaugurated by the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, who extended her best wishes to the organizers and visitors.

This year’s theme takes devotees on an emotional journey through the fading sounds of nature—bird calls, rustling leaves, and the gentle rhythms that once defined our world, now threatened by growing urban noise. At the heart of the pandal stands a breathtaking 20-foot bird installation, symbolizing both the grandeur of avian life and the haunting silence caused by its disappearance.
Visitors are immersed in a unique experience, with evocative soundscapes and performances giving voice to the cries of nature, urging everyone to reflect on their responsibility toward the environment.
