While many of you might have heard of the dance form Gotipua, it is only a mesmerising sight to watch it live. Such was the scenario when Aurangabadkars witnessed the folk dance of Orissa -Gotipua in the city recently. The boys from Bhubaneswar came to the city to showcase their talent at a dance even organised by Vidya Aranyam School and Mahagami Gurukul. Held at Rukmini Sabhagriha of Aurangabad, the boys of age groups six to twelve years performed this dance with acrobatic and yogic positions and formation to everyone's delight.
Gotipua in Oriya, wherein ‘Goti’ means single and ‘Pua’ means boy is traditional folk dance of Orissa. The unique part of the performance is that the young boys are dressed in female attire and through their dance, praise Lord Jagannath. With expressions and beautiful formations, it was a added feather to Aurangabad's cultural scenario.
